Day 1: Halifax -- Oak Island (B, D)
You’ll be picked up in Halifax for a ride to Peggy’s Cove, a rustic, charming fishing village on St Margarets Bay home to famous Peggy's Cove Lighthouse. Enjoy breakfast here before continuing along Nova Scotia’s South Shore to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed port town of Lunenburg, renowned for its fleets of Grand Banks fishing schooners.

Take a guided walking tour here to fully experience one of the most remarkably preserved colonial settlements in the New World. Learn about the town’s famous fishing heritage at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic (admission included) and have free time for lunch (own expense) before heading off to Mahone Bay.

In this postcard-worthy town, known for its history of wooden boat building, enjoy some free time to stroll around and chat with locals, who have been known to share superstitions, legends and fables about the town's bootlegging days.

After your time in Mahone Bay, continue south past Western Shore and across the bridge to Oak Island. Learn from your guide about the fascinating legends of this renowned island, noted as the location of the ‘Money Pit’ -- the site of supposed treasures. Treasure hunters have searched the island for centuries in hopes of finding artifacts said to be buried deep underground!
