Meet your guide in central Copenhagen, near Christiansborg Palace – seat of the Danish parliament – and start your running experience with a quick chat about your experience and level of fitness. Take part in a warm-up and stretch session with your guide and other group members, and then set off on your jog. All that’s required is a good pair of sneakers and a bottle of water.

Setting a pace that allows for conversation, your guide will chat to you about Copenhagen and the Christiania neighborhood as you run. Hear how the free town was established by squatters who refused to be moved from abandoned military barracks, and learn about the area as it is today. The liberal and tolerant neighborhood is favored by a community of artists and hippies, and boasts a mishmash of building styles ranging from squatters’ sheds to eco-designed houses.

Jog past Copenhagen’s pretty canals, and then enter Christiania itself, seeing its typical self-built houses and organic eateries. Pass Kvindesmedien, Copenhagen’s only female blacksmiths yard, and then run along Pusher Street, taking in its eye-catching graffiti and arty shops.

After seeing the highlights of Christiania, jog into the suburbs of surrounding Christianshavn. The district has several long berms that line the canals, that are perfectly suited for a wind-down jog after pounding the pavements of Christiania. Work your way back to central Copenhagen, and then finish your tour near Christiansborg Palace.
