Valencia bike tour including tapas

See the sights of Valencia by bike and sample the city’s famous tapas, too, on this must-do 3.5-hour tour! After exploring Turia Gardens and Valencia’s charming Old Town, head to the dazzling City of Arts and Sciences – a colossal cultural center – and then relax at one of the city’s top tapas bars. Sample local delicacies like Ibericos ham, enjoy a drink, and then finish your bike tour with a ride through the Royal Gardens.

Meet your guide in central Valencia, and after listening to a quick safety briefing, put on your helmet, hop on your bike and set off on your way. Following your guide, pedal toward Turia Gardens – a lush stretch of parkland that’s actually the former riverbed of Turia River. Once snaking right through Valencia, the river flooded in the 1950s, prompting the council to redirect it around the city instead.

Continue through Valencia’s bohemian Old Town, admiring old-school Spanish squares like Plaza Victoria and Plaza Ayuntamiento while exploring its warren of little streets. Gaze at the medieval architecture that abounds and hear how the neighborhood started out as a Roman town.

Ride across to the futuristic-looking City of Arts and Sciences, and pose for pictures in front of it as your guide explains its unique architecture – designed by Valencian Santiago Calatrava. Comprising five buildings including an aquarium – all in a dazzling white – the complex is just as spectacular from the outside as it is inside.

Stop for a break in one of the city’s renowned bars to relax with a plate of tapas and a drink – just as the Valencians do! The tapas dishes will vary each time, but you can expect something like Ibericos ham, aged cheeses, Spanish omelet and salad.

Work it off with a leisurely paced ride back through Valencia’s Royal Gardens (Jardines del Real), and hear about the royal palace that once sat here before being moved during the Spanish War of Independence. Weave along the leafy footpaths and then cycle out of the park toward Paseo de la Pechina – one of the town center’s main streets – where your tour ends.
