Toledo Half-Day Trip
Start your day with a 5-hour tour to Toledo. Meet your local guide in central Madrid, and then relax on the comfortable coach drive about 44 miles (70 km) south. Tour the medieval walled city – surrounded by the Tajo River – with your guide, and see the splendor of what was the capital of Spain until the 15th century. Throughout the tour, your guide will tell you interesting details about the city.

Toledo's role as Spain's former capital and melting pot of cultures is visible in every corner. Discover Arabic, Moorish, Gothic and Renaissance architecture; see the amazing 13th-century Roman Catholic Cathedral of Toledo; admire the Alcazar, a medieval castle; and visit Santa Maria La Blanca Synagogue.

As you wander around the cobblestone alleyways, learn about the master of Spanish Renaissance painting, El Greco. Also a sculptor and architect, El Greco had an original, dramatic and expressionistic style that wasn't well received in the 16th century. Eventually, his works became highly regarded and many are now considered masterpieces.

See one of his most famous works – The Burial of the Count of Orgaz – at the Moorish St Tome Church. Then visit San Juan of the Kings and the Victorio Macho Museum before re-boarding your coach and making the trip back to Madrid.

In Madrid, you'll have approximately six hours of free time to have lunch (own expense), relax and explore on your own.

Illuminations Evening Tour

At approximately 7:45pm, meet your guide in central Madrid and board a comfortable coach for your 2-hour evening illuminations tour. See Madrid's tree-lined boulevards, with their animated cafes and beautifully lit monuments and squares. As you ride around, learn about the city and the sites you pass from your local guide.

See the amazing 4th-century-BC Egyptian Templo de Debod, saved from the rising waters of Lake Nasser and sent block by block to Spain in 1970. Then admire Plaza de España, where the statues of Spanish writer Miguel de Cervantes and his most well-known characters, Don Quijote and Sancho Panza, are located.

Next, hop off the coach and continue by foot to the heart of Madrid, Plaza Mayor. Formerly a center for royal festivities and bullfighting, the plaza is lined with shops and alfresco cafes where you can have dinner or a drink (own expense) during free time before your flamenco show starts.

Flamenco Show
Meet at approximately 9:30pm at Torres Bermejas (in the Gran Via) – one of Madrid’s best Flamenco venues. While you sit back and watch the exciting show – a southern Spanish tradition that combines passionate music and dance – sip on a complimentary glass of wine or soda.
