Experience Xi'an like a local on this walking and cycling tour. As you explore China’s ancient capital, enjoy a breakfast of delicious street snacks, watch locals practicing tai chi in the park and cycle around the historic Xi'an city wall. Stop at various landmarks as your guide recounts the legends and tales of charming Xi'an.

Your half-day walking and cycling tour starts as you meet your guide in the heart of Xi'an at the Bell Tower Square. Wander through the backstreets of Xi'an, stopping to buy some snacks for breakfast – perhaps some delicious steamed pork buns and fried green-onion pancakes.

Next, stop at a local park, with the magnificent and ancient city wall in the background. Enjoy the scenery and join the locals in their morning exercises if you wish. The parks in China serve as the heart of the community, where people gather and engage in various activities. As you engage with the locals, immerse yourself in the lively Chinese park culture. Watch as people practice tai chi, play badminton, practice aerobics or paint calligraphy. Listen to the sounds of locals singing opera or playing traditional Chinese instruments.

Then, climb up to the top of the city wall from the South Gate, and grab a bike to start cycling. Ride around the wall, one of the oldest and best-preserved city walls in China. Xi'an’s city wall was built during the 14th-century Ming Dynasty, under the rule of Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang. The city wall forms a rectangle with a length of 39 feet (14 kilometers), and each corner consists of gateways, watchtowers and defense towers.

Enjoy a panoramic view of the city as you cycle along the wall. See city landmarks, take pictures of the different sections of the wall and hear stories about the history of Xi'an, the ancient capital of China. Cycle as much of the wall as you want, and then arrive back at the South Gate where you tour ends. You have the option to rent the bike longer if you’d like to continue biking around the city on your own.
