Your full-day private tour of modern Shanghai begins at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center. The museum traces Shanghai’s evolution with exhibitions on Shanghai’s history and models of planned and recent developments. See photographs of old and contemporary Shanghai and a 3-D model of what urban Shanghai will look like in 2020.

Then, jump on the Shanghai Magnetic Levitation (Maglev) Train, which makes the 19-mile (32-km) trip between downtown Shanghai and Pudong Airport (PVG) in only eight minutes. Arrive at the Pudong New Area, Shanghai’s financial district, and climb the Lupu Bridge, an arch bridge over the Huangpu River. From the base of the bridge, take a high-speed elevator up, and then climb 367 steps along the arch of the bridge to the top. From the peak, you will have a fantastic view of the former site of the Shanghai Expo 2010, as well as the rest of the city.

Enjoy a Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, and then take a five-minute underground journey in the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel to reach the 100th floor (the highest occupied floor) of the Shanghai World Financial Center. At 1,555 feet (474 meters) high, the floor offers a panoramic view of modern Shanghai.
