Meet at Beijing’s Sunworld Hotel in the late afternoon to begin your food tour. With your local foodie guide, take public transit to one of the most notable hutong areas in Beijing. Stroll down these bustling alleys to gain real insight into the life of local families.

As you visit street vendors and markets, your guide will recommend snacks for sampling and will tell you stories behind these tasty treats. Indulge in authentic local favorites such as soybean pudding, honey yogurt, Chinese egg omelets and pancakes, rice wine, noodles and ‘donkey’ sandwiches.

There’s an endless supply of local specialties to sample as you make your way through one of the largest produce market in central Beijing. Along the way, you’ll meet local culinary masters, such as noodle and pancake makers, as well as learn about different vegetables and spices and maybe even pick up a trick or two about authentic Chinese cooking.

Take a picturesque walk along Houhai Lake before arriving at your final stop: a traditional courtyard where you'll take a dumpling-making class.
Learn the art of dumpling making from a local host and then sit down to a delectable dumpling dinner with your host and fellow travelers.

After dinner, end your Beijing food tour at Drum Tower, where you can then explore the Houhai bar and café area or the Nanluoguxiang area for a drink on a rooftop bar down a hutong (own expense). Your local guide will be happy to provide recommendations for a great night out.
